Whistler Blackcomb

Biggest village in North America. Teddy Bear Daycare is Sea-to-Sky residents only — visiting families cannot use it. We are here to publish that correction.

Our take

We published Whistler so we could publish the correction. If your kids ski and you own Epic, the village is real. If you need daycare, go to Bachelor, Stratton, Smugglers', or Big White. Do not fly to Whistler for a crib that will not take you.

Best for: Families with skiing kids, Epic, and no need for visitor daycare.

Go

  • Village scale
  • Terrain for teens
  • Epic

Watch

  • Visitor daycare is no
  • Price
  • Weather / highway

Best time: January or late April (sometimes), not Christmas. Avoid: A toddler week because a 2019 listicle mentioned Teddy Bear Daycare.

Ski school deep dive

Ski school is 25% of Family Score — the heaviest weight, on purpose. This mountain: 7/10.

Professional, unpublished prices. The family correction is daycare, not the school.

Researched from official pages and 2026 reporting. Fields marked unverified are unpublished by the resort — we will not invent an age, a class cap, or a price.

Location
Whistler and Blackcomb both have kids' zones. The village is the campus.
Progression
Endless intermediate. Weather and glacier fog are the bosses.
Specialized
Teen terrain for days. Not a toddler-care mountain for visitors.
Booking
Epic. Holiday weeks are a zoo.

Childcare

The official page: Sea to Sky residents only, proof of ID, no longer accepts drop-in guests. Nearly every travel blog that lists it as a visitor perk is wrong. Visiting families should not plan on it.

Beginner terrain

  • Carpets: Yes, on a huge mountain.
  • Learning area: Exists. Easy to pick the wrong village base.
  • Greens: On the map. Weather can erase the day.
  • Progression: The Peak 2 Peak is not a first-timer product.

On mountain

A city of restaurants.

Multiple bases. Stay in the village.

The largest in North American skiing. Strollers, Arc'teryx, and a grocery store.

Non-ski

  • Village
  • Spas
  • Squamish adventure as a rest day

Kids programs

  • Kids ski school
  • Village activities
  • Do not count on Teddy Bear Daycare

Getting there

Vancouver (YVR). Transfer: About 2–2.5 hours. Sea-to-Sky Highway. Beautiful and not a toy. Buses exist because the drive is real. YVR–Whistler buses are the family default if you do not want that highway in a storm.

Family of 4 / day (2 adults, 2 kids: lifts + rentals + 1 group lesson)
Epic, and still expensive. Not the value Canada — that's Big White.
Pass
Epic. Brand recognition is why it is in the database. Daycare is why the blogs are wrong.
