Our take
Canada is in scope. Tremblant is the easiest international trip for an East Coast family, and it is competitive with a Vermont week on cost when the dollar behaves. I would not skip Smugglers' for it if I had a toddler and a Treasures reservation. I would look at it hard if I already owned Ikon and wanted a village.
Best for: East Coast Ikon families who will use a passport and a village.
Go
- Village that works after 3:30
- Ikon + exchange rate vs. a Vermont luxury week
- Kids Ski Free Week hook
Watch
- Eastern snow
- Care details still soft
- A border
Best time: The published Kids Ski Free Week, or a January week when Vermont is also a drive. Avoid: Assuming every week is the free week. Assuming no one needs a passport.
Ski school deep dive
Ski school is 25% of Family Score — the heaviest weight, on purpose. This mountain: 8/10.
Village + trackers + a free-week hook. Lesson prices unpublished. French is on the mountain; English is common in the school — still confirm the language of the group.

Beginner terrain
- Carpets: Village side.
- Learning area: Compact and busy in peak weeks.
- Greens: Enough for a first Eastern week.
- Progression: South Side cruisers, then the rest if they can handle ice.
On mountain
Village is the meal. Exchange rate helps.
Ski-in village if you pay for it.
The most European pedestrian village in this database. Strollers, gelato, a fake-but-functional cobblestone core.
Non-ski
- Pedestrian village
- Spa / indoor pools at many hotels
- Lac Tremblant
Kids programs
- Kids ski school with GPS trackers
- Kids Ski Free Week
- Village activities
Getting there
Montréal (YUL). Transfer: About 90 minutes. Drivable from the Northeast in 4–5.5 hours from many cities. Passport. Winter tires in Québec are not a suggestion. YUL transfers are a common package. Driving from New England is the other pattern.

- Ikon. Kids Ski Free Week is a date-specific product, not every day of the winter.
