Ski With Family is an independent editorial site about family ski trips. This page is the honest version of what we collect, why, and what we do not do.
What we collect
- Newsletter. Email address, which form you used (footer, landing, contact, quiz), and the time you joined. We do not currently send a confirmation email. Joining puts you on our list; it does not subscribe you to a partner’s list.
- Accounts. If you sign in with Google or X, we receive the name, email, and profile image those services share with us. We use that to keep your session and to attach saved packing lists and resort-finder shortlists to you. We do not post on your behalf. We do not read your feed.
- Saved tools. Packing lists and quiz answers you choose to save while signed in. Those stay tied to your account.
- Ask a ski dad. The question you type is sent to our AI provider (xAI) to generate an answer from this site’s notes. We do not publish your questions. Do not paste passwords, card numbers, or kids’ full names into that box.
- Technical logs. The usual hosting logs (IP, browser, page) that come with running a website. We do not run an advertising pixel network.
Cookies
Sign-in uses essential session cookies so we know it is you on the next page. We do not use those cookies to sell ads. If you never sign in, you can use the public pages without an account cookie.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your email or account data.
- We do not rent the newsletter to “partners.”
- We do not require an account to read reviews, run the finder, or build a packing list.
- Family Score is not a paid badge. See the affiliate disclosure.
Who else sees data
Hosting and the database that stores newsletter signups and saved lists. Google or X if you choose that sign-in. xAI if you use Ask a ski dad. Merchants if you click a gear or shipping link — that click happens on their site, under their rules.
Kids
This is a site for parents. Accounts and the newsletter are for people 13 or older. Do not create an account for a child under 13. Resort pages talk about kids; they are not meant as a service directed at children.
How long we keep it
Newsletter emails until you ask to be removed. Saved lists until you delete the account or ask us to drop them. Session cookies until you sign out or they expire.
Your requests
To see, correct, or delete a newsletter signup or an account’s saved lists, use the contact page from the email you subscribed or signed in with. We will match it and do the boring admin.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that actually matters, we will update this page and the date above. Continued use after that date is the new deal.
