Our take
Stowe is two mountains sharing a gondola and a reputation. Spruce Peak is where a family actually lives: lessons from 3, Cubs on weekdays, a village ice rink. Mansfield is why people brag. Family Score 6.7 is the model being honest about 16% beginner terrain, a 24-month care floor, and a weekend that has no crib. I would take a midweek Epic week here with a 4-year-old booked into school and a 2-year-old in Cubs. I would not drive up Friday night with a toddler and a brochure. I would not call the 4-and-under Epic pass a kids-ski-free week — that is Tremblant's product, on Ikon, with dates. Window tickets were erroring the day we checked. Unverified stays unverified.

Getting there
Burlington (BTV) ~40 minutes (gostowe.com). Transfer: BTV is the easy flight. Boston ~3.5 hours, NYC ~6.5 hours, Montreal ~3 hours.. Snow tires recommended. Northern Vermont, not the southern-Vermont weekend circuit. GMT Mountain Road shuttle village↔mountain. A car still helps for groceries.
