Our take
The Midwest belongs in this database. Boyne is a hotel product with a hill and a waterpark. I would send a Detroit family here before I sent them to a $1,400 Vail day. I would not call it a 'best ski school in America' mountain until they publish ratios.
Perfect if
- Midwest families with kids 0–10 who want a hotel + waterpark + hill.
- $1 tickets for ages 0–5 as the kicker, not the whole budget.
- A January hotel package with a rest-day plan that does not need snow.
Skip if
- Expecting daycare.
- Expecting Western snow.
- A destination week sold as 'the Alps of Michigan.'
Biggest tradeoffA $1 toddler ticket and a waterpark — unpublished ski school, no daycare, a small hill.

Childcare
No formal daycare. Waterpark + $1 tickets for 0–5 is the infant strategy: one adult in the park, one on snow.
Beginner terrain
- Carpets: Yes.
- Learning area: Hotel-side.
- Greens: A fair share.
- Progression: Night / lights.
On mountain
Hotel.
The mountain is attached to the hotel. That is the product.
A resort hotel, not a town. Boyne Falls is small.
Non-ski
- Avalanche Bay indoor waterpark
- Hotel pool / spa
Kids programs
- $1 lift tickets ages 0–5
- Avalanche Bay waterpark
- Kids ski school
Getting there
Traverse City (TVC) or Detroit + drive. Transfer: TVC about 1 hour. DTW is a 4-hour winter drive.. This is the Midwest anchor. Drive from Chicago / Detroit / Grand Rapids if you can. Drive.

What six days on snow costs
Family of four: window tickets × 6, rentals × 6, one 3-day kids' lesson block. Not a week — lodging isn't in our data, so it isn't in this number.
This page doesn't have dollar ranges we can add. We will not invent a six-day total.
This mountain is on the 26/27 kids-ski-free list — read the cutoff before you plan a week around it. Kids ski free: the list and the fine print.
