Two mountains, two jobs
Bachelor is the Bend trip: licensed daycare from 6 weeks, a 26/27 kids-ski-free pass with a real deadline, a volcano you start at West Village. Crystal is the Seattle day-or-weekend: two hours from SEA, class sizes of 4 and 6, the Rainier gondola when the skiing is a write-off. Do not treat them as interchangeable.
Weather is a co-pilot
Cascade snow is heavy. Views disappear. That is not a failure of the mountain. Build a gondola / Bend town / Seattle aquarium buffer. The access roads are kinder than Little Cottonwood and still not a toy.
Why go
- Real licensed care at Bachelor
- Seattle proximity at Crystal
- Ikon on both
Watch-outs
- PNW weather
- Bachelor has no pedestrian village — Bend is dinner
- Crystal beginner share is modest
