The actual routine
We use ShipSkis every trip. They pick up from our door, and the gear is waiting at the resort. Airport ski bags plus car seats plus a stroller is a different sport, and we retired from it. What still comes on the plane
A change of clothes, the stuffed animal that cannot be reasoned with, medications, and maybe boots if we are being stubborn. Helmets can ride in a duffel. The long bags do not need to see TSA.
When not to bother
Driving. Or a first-timer who is renting at the mountain anyway. Shipping empty bags so you can rent at the other end is how you pay twice. Ship what you already own and will use.
